Why Individuals and Families Choose DiRich

At DiRich Specialist Community Support Ltd, we are preparing to provide safe, respectful and person-centred community support for children aged 8 and over, young people and adults.

Our planned services are designed for people with learning disabilities, autism and additional support needs who may benefit from support to build confidence, develop independence and participate more fully in everyday community life.

We believe that every person should be treated with dignity, listened to and supported to make meaningful choices about their life.

Our Commitment

Our aim is to help each individual live a meaningful and fulfilling life while developing confidence, independence and practical life skills.

We will work closely with individuals, families and relevant professionals to understand each person’s:

  • Needs and preferences
  • Strengths and abilities
  • Communication style
  • Personal goals
  • Interests and routines
  • Cultural and family circumstances
  • Safeguarding and risk-management needs

Support will be planned around the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit into a standard service.

Person-Centred and Outcome-Focused Support

No two people are the same.

Before support begins, we will discuss the person’s needs, complete an appropriate assessment and agree clear goals and expected outcomes.

An individual support plan may include goals such as:

  • Building confidence in the community
  • Developing communication and social skills
  • Learning practical everyday skills
  • Increasing independence
  • Accessing education, training or volunteering
  • Taking part in leisure and recreational activities
  • Developing safe travel skills
  • Reducing social isolation
  • Establishing positive routines

Support plans will be reviewed to make sure they remain suitable, helpful and focused on positive outcomes.

Experienced Health and Social Care Team

Our leadership and senior support team bring over 40 years of combined experience across health, social care and community-support settings.

This includes experience supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism, emotional wellbeing needs and additional support needs.

All team members delivering support will be recruited through appropriate safer-recruitment procedures. This will include relevant checks, references, induction, training, supervision and ongoing professional development.

Community-Focused Support

Our planned support will help people participate safely and confidently in their local community.

Depending on the person’s assessed needs and agreed support plan, activities may include:

  • Attending leisure and recreational activities
  • Accessing community groups and social opportunities
  • Developing shopping and budgeting skills
  • Practising safe use of public transport
  • Attending agreed appointments
  • Accessing education, college or training
  • Participating in volunteering opportunities
  • Building confidence in unfamiliar environments
  • Developing communication and social interaction skills
  • Taking part in activities linked to personal interests

All activities will be planned carefully and remain subject to consent, risk assessment, staffing availability and service suitability.

Flexible and Planned Support

Support may be provided through agreed community activities, outreach support and other suitable settings.

The frequency, duration and type of support will depend on the individual’s assessed needs, goals, preferences and available funding arrangements.

We will aim to provide a reliable and consistent service while being honest about what DiRich can safely and appropriately deliver.

Compassionate, Respectful and Reliable

We want every person supported by DiRich to feel:

  • Safe
  • Valued
  • Listened to
  • Respected
  • Included
  • Encouraged
  • Involved in decisions about their support

We will build professional relationships based on dignity, trust, patience, kindness, consistency and clear communication.

The safety and wellbeing of the people we support will always be our highest priority.

Any safeguarding concern will be taken seriously and handled in accordance with DiRich policies and the appropriate local safeguarding procedures.

DiRich is not an emergency service. Where someone is in immediate danger or urgent assistance is required, please call 999.
